Okay now, be honest now. Who’s surprised that I am doing fried Twinkies for unResolution month? Anyone? Didn’t think so!
By the way, I wanted to say hi to Kelly who was absolutely horrified by the concept of fried Twinkies. This one’s for you! 🙂
Anyway, let’s skip all the rest and get to the giant font:
Fried Twinkies
Okay, so in all honesty, the first time I had fried Twinkies, I was pretty disappointed. They weren’t all that. I was expecting more. More sugar. More sweetness. More dental work. Something. So, of course, when I make my own, I had to rectify this situation.
‘Cause I’m crazy like that.
Fried Twinkies
You will need:
- 4 Two-packs Twinkies
- 2 cups of All-Purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Oil for frying
- (optional) chocolate sauce
- (optional) whipped cream
- (optional) powdered sugar
Freeze the Twinkies for an hour in the freezer.
Mix together all of the ingredients except the Twinkies and those listed as optional. Whisk so that all lumps are removed from the batter.
Dip the Twinkies in the batter and let sit in the refrigerator to set.
Heat the oil to 350 degrees or over medium heat. Fry the Twinkies in batches of 2-3 until golden brown.
Serve with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and powdered sugar on top.
Easy, greasy, and do delicious! Everyone, enjoy!
